Building a Task Planner: Ideation
Prioritizing tasks, aligning goals, and sketching the initial concepts.
This week, I began exploring the why and how behind building my task planner application. Why would this app be valuable to users, and what features should be included to make it effective? I started by examining different use cases and identifying some key benefits the app could provide.
Why is this application helpful to people?
To help young professionals prioritize their life tasks and goals.
Organize people’s lives.
Help people stay aligned with their life goals/values.
Free up people’s time to focus on the highest-impact projects.

API integrations
Assessing the internal value this application could potentially generate was useful in thinking out the different use cases. As of now the ideal user/persona is something I am workshopping. As of now, I’m still developing the ideal user persona, though I’m currently targeting young professionals with ambitious goals but limited time. However, I’m open to exploring how this app could benefit anyone seeking self-improvement.
Sketches
After assessing the app’s value and listing its core features, I moved on to sketching some initial concepts. I’ve mainly focused on the onboarding flow, though this will likely evolve as the app’s direction becomes clearer.
Early Research
To understand the broader task-planning space, I’ve been exploring online communities and gathering insights into people’s experiences, frustrations, and thoughts on task management. Reddit has proven to be a rich source of information, with numerous communities offering valuable discussions on these topics.
Additionally, I looked into the process of bullet journaling, which has offered further insights. I was struck by how creative people get when organizing their lives, with bullet journaling often serving as both a practical tool and a creative outlet. It allows people to combine organizational techniques with artistic expression, whether through painting, photography, drawing, or other mediums.
Action Items for this week:
