Building a task planner app has been a rewarding journey, but like any creative endeavor, it comes with its fair share of roadblocks. Over the past few weeks, I’ve faced some challenges that temporarily paused development, but I’m excited to share how I navigated them and what’s next for the project.
Overcoming AI Agent Limitations
Recently, I ran into an issue where my Replit AI agent credits ran out. This slowed progress significantly, but the bigger challenge was troubleshooting technical problems with the prototype itself.
I encountered persistent port and WebSocket issues that the AI agent couldn’t resolve. After multiple failed attempts, I turned to Replit’s AI assistant, a tool designed for more detailed work. Unlike the agent, which handles broader tasks, the assistant excels at debugging and refining code. It ultimately helped me fix the issues, allowing me to view the prototype again.
Lesson learned: In the future, I’ll rely more on the AI assistant for fine-tuned problem-solving and leave the agent for high-level tasks.
Refocusing on Core Functionality
With the prototype back on track, I’ve decided to pause any new feature development for now. Instead, my focus will be on ensuring the core functionality works seamlessly. This includes:
Fixing any lingering bugs.
Polishing the existing user flows (e.g., task creation, project navigation).
Testing the overall stability of the app.
Once the foundation is solid, I’ll feel more confident about taking the next big step: deployment.
Looking for Testers!
As I move toward deployment, I’m looking for beta testers who are interested in trying out the app. If you’re passionate about productivity tools or just curious to see the project in action, I’d love for you to join this journey. Your feedback will be invaluable in refining the app further.
If you’re interested, drop a comment or message me directly!
What’s Next?
After addressing core functionality and gathering tester feedback, I’ll shift my focus to deployment. While this phase comes with its own set of challenges, I’m excited to see the app in the hands of real people.
Happy to help test it.
I love task and planner apps and am a product designer so am happy to be a beta tester!
